The Simple Keys to Transforming our lives

In order to take charge of our life and be more in control of how we feel – to feel as if we would choose to more of the time, the first thing we need to understand is the difference between our voluntary and involuntary minds. We have a part of our mind that we use and make decisions with and another that seemingly uses us that we have very little control over. These are often referred to as the conscious and the subconscious aspects of mind. The subconscious mind doesn’t think and make decisions based on logic and deduction the way the part of the mind that we think with and decipher what is ’going on’ in the world. It is a far faster and more powerful part of our mind that both creates the world as we know it and is tasked with the sole purpose of maintaining our state of mind, or a ‘normal way of being’.

Sometimes referred to as our vibration, or the mood that typifies our character. Because encoded in this vibration are all of the essential parts of our intelligence that supports our survival. What may be referred to as our instincts – but this intelligence reliably tells us how we should behave – who and how we should ally ourselves with, and how to avoid pain and danger.

But here is the key we need to understand because this involuntary mind can often seem like it is our enemy and against us if we don’t understand its nature, what it's trying to achieve and of course how we can influence and communicate with it.

With the conscious mind being all we have access to and know of as ourselves and who we are it is very easy to be fooled into thinking that the mind we use is in charge – that we are in charge. But if we had to think about every little thing we see and wonder ‘what is this thing’ and can it harm us or how should I go about this we would be overloaded with a swarm of information and be frozen to act most of the time. Once we know what something is that information becomes part of our coding, so we don’t have to think about it anymore – nor are we ever able to change that belief without a very good reason – namely that the belief is somehow causing us a high degree of unwanted pain or angst – we’ll explain this further later.

But for now, we just need to understand that as human beings it requires a lot of energy to think – and we are designed to conserve energy to make our survival easier. We are designed to notice patterns in our environment so that we can effectively pick the low hanging fruit. Once we recognize a pattern occurring, we get all excited because we know what to do – we’ve seen this before so we know what action to take that will lead us to pleasure. But back to us believing we are in control.

Because the mind we think with is all we are familiar with, most people live with the assumption that we are the ones at the wheel of our lives – making all of the decisions and are fully in charge of where we are going. But we are not – most of our lives, and what is happening in them is us pulling out this pattern of familiarity from our environment, when there are literally an infinite number of options. We turn the world into what it is by what the subconscious is looking for to feel like it is at home. 97% of what we think, do, and feel happens involuntarily – as a result of the subconscious minds agenda to preserve our ‘normal’ (I never said good) state of mind. Most of what we think, and feel is not by choice – but a repetitive pattern that can perpetuate itself for decades with us having either none, or a very minimal influence over.

If we think that we are in charge and most of our lives are happening consciously, we will suffer for that belief. It will often feel like nothing is going our way, and there is very little that is within our control. Just to have the awareness that something else is doing the driving, puts us way out in front of anyone who assumes we (in the conscious minds) are in charge. It automatically makes us a little more conscious of our thoughts and the reality we are perpetuating by them. The only real question anyone in their ‘right’ mind need ask themselves is can we become more conscious of the part of our minds that is doing the driving, so that it feels as though we have more choice over what is happening in our lives. How do we talk to and communicate with the ’driver’.

So, the first step in our transformation is to realize that we are not the driver of our lives we are the passengers. Because by far the majority of our lives are happening subconsciously. The next step is how do we communicate with and talk to the driver. And to better understand this let me ask you a question – Does your state of mind have an effect over how the world seems. When you are in a hurry do you seem to catch every red light. When you are furious, does your environment seem to support you with more things to be furious about. Or when you are in a great mood, does everything just seem to go so smoothly? This phenomenon is what is sometimes referred to as the law of attraction – or the law of assumption, how the universe conspires to tell us that we are right in whatever we have determined is true. I prefer to refer to this ‘Law’ as that of our projected energy. This subconscious aspect of our minds is an emotional mind. Is the energy that we project from our heart. And it is nearly impossible to change this energy without awareness. Remember it has a mind and agenda all of its own.

To transform who we are and the conditions of our life, we have to feel like we are someone else. Someone who is less bothered by the things that we don’t like – someone who is exactly like the person we describe in our ideal world. And to notice – to be aware of anytime we are not acting or feeling like that person would. Most of our lives are happening automatically – we have a robot at the wheel, and how do we talk to that robot. The robot will stare back at us and say “I can’t hear you when you tell me where you want to go or how you want our life to look – but believe you me, I want the very same things you do. I want us to be happy and have and do all of the things that we want. But you’ll have to speak to me in a language that I understand.”

“And how is that”, we would ask?

“Speak to me in the language of emotion – tell me how it will feel when we get there? I’m not really interested in how you feel now – I want to know how you want to feel, and then I can start showing you the evidence of this coming true in your environment. Then I can start showing you the way and the things we need to learn – the people that will make that dream so much easier for us to realize.”

The subconscious mind speaks the language of emotions – but 97% of what we feel is repetitive and for that reason most of it feels stale and unwanted. How we feel is less often a choice than we realize, but in awareness it can be more of the time. It indeed takes thought energy to imagine good feelings and visualize all the good stuff we’d like to happen – but it is the highest return on effort on this planet. How we feel is the choice that changes everything. Not just our perception and the type of things we notice (come to our attention.) but how people seem to treat us, the results we are getting, and what we think we can do so will take on. These, and other ideas on how we can more easily than we know become more conscious will be discussed in coming weeks but let me know in the comments if there is any aspect of this that resonates with you, or if there is something in particular, you’d like some clarity on.

How we feel can be a choice more of the time than we are currently making it – and we certainly will make that choice when we begin to understand just how much that choice changes, and effects the world we look into – or what we look for in the world. it is a choice that is available to us in every moment. To choose is to be more conscious. How we feel is what I refer to as, the choice that changes everything. Choosing how we feel, or eliciting states of mind without reason is how we 'hack' reality itself.
